OHSU Hospital is expanding inpatient services with a $450 million 530,000 sf development. Sited on a slope, this 14-story building optimizes complex 3-dimensional connectivity between existing OHSU buildings and the campus, while providing ease of circulation. For the compressed site, Mayer/Reed’s site design unifies shared open spaces by threading accessible pathways and seating niches into a terraced landscape. Marquam Hill’s forested context inspires this lushly planted destination for patients, staff and visitors. An overlook patio, with options for seating and gathering, integrates with the building lobby and offers views of the forest and beyond. Out front, tucked into the hillside, a multi-modal hub will provide enclosed bike parking and a bus shelter. Mayer/Reed worked with an architect to design this multi-functional facility with a terraced, vegetated roof emerging from the forest above.
