The 78,000 sf Performing Arts Building (PAB) consolidates theater, dance and music programs into a vibrant, cross-disciplinary home for the arts. Sited on a hill at the western edge of campus the PAB serves as a connector, providing an accessible route up the hill to the rest of campus. Mayer/Reed’s signage design capitalizes on the open sightlines through the 3 story atrium, encouraging movement through the building and minimizing signage clutter. Freestanding directional signs at vertical circulation points organize major destinations. Large identity panels marking the major destinations are visible from various viewpoints throughout the building. These metal panels are attached with exposed hardware to facilitate changeout for adding donor names. Cut-through letterforms allow the warm wood tones to read through from the wall behind, blending signage with architecture.
